Bike Excursion + Exploration of the Coves
Lungomare di Quarara, 4 Coves – 12 h – 20 Km
In this experience we will discover together Quarara, an uncontaminated rocky coast full of wonderful coves, secret hollows and breathtaking backdrops.Mazara is a city that based its economy, culture and identity in its relationship with the sea. Through a path that connects the historic center to Capo Granitola – a small fishing settlement – we will get to know the coast through four of its coves: the mine, the profane, the secret, the thirsty. Each of these stages will take us to small frames where the rock and the sea whisper ancient and new secrets, kept only in the legends and memories of the Mazara people.
The experience lasts about 12 hours from morning to evening, during which we will travel about 20 km. After getting equipped, from Piazza della Repubblica we will reach the Bocca Arena bridge passing the Mazara promenade. The bridge crosses the Delia river, which determines the beginning of Quarara.
From there we will reach the mine, the first cove once a place of extraction of tuff material for the construction of the city, and now submerged in clear waters. We will then continue on to the secular, drop overlooking the sea, from which it will be possible to cause the midday sun between more or less accessible ravines. We will then arrive at the secret, a strip of sand between golden frames that anticipates one of the most beautiful backdrops on the coast. From there we will move for the thirsty, wonderful cove that gradually degrades from the road towards the sea among bushes of succulent plants and monumental zabbare. After discovering lu puzzu di mala via, a small freshwater well once a precious water supply for privateers and sailors, we will enjoy the last rays of the sun as it sets in a red sea.
Halfway through the tour we will have lunch at the Golden Beach, a beach club and sea view restaurant, where we could taste a selection of the best local fresh fish. In addition, during the day we will be able to provide pocket breaks with fresh fruit and typical local products.
